Meet Calvin Morris
I'm Calvin Morris, founder of Morris Training Co. and a NASM Certified Personal Trainer and Certified Nutrition Coach. Fitness has been an important part of my life for years, both through my own athletic pursuits and my experiences coaching others.
What keeps me motivated is knowing there's always more to learn, more to improve, and another challenge worth pursuing. I don't believe fitness has a definitive finish line. As our priorities, interests, and abilities change, so do our goals. What matters is continuing to challenge ourselves and finding ways to grow.
I enjoy the work that goes into achieving something difficult. I respect the discipline it takes to recognize where there's room for improvement and consistently put in the effort to get better.
That mindset carries over into my coaching. I don't expect everyone to share my athletic interests or pursue the same goals. Instead, I want to help people discover what they're capable of and develop a practical path toward achieving it.
Why I Started Morris Training Co.
I founded Morris Training Co. to improve the lives of others by making fitness more accessible, affordable, and personalized.
I don't believe someone should need an expensive gym membership, specialized equipment, or a complicated routine to make meaningful progress. Whether someone works out at home, has access to a gym, or only owns a few pieces of equipment, I want to help them get the most out of what's available to them.
Everyone has different goals, abilities, schedules, and circumstances. That's why I believe training should be designed around the individual, rather than expecting someone to fit their life around a generic workout program.
I also believe personal training should be collaborative. My role goes beyond providing workouts. I want to understand what each client hopes to accomplish, establish a shared direction, and provide the structure, guidance, and accountability that help turn effort into progress.
Ultimately, my goal is to make effective training more approachable while helping people build the consistency and confidence to continue improving.
My Coaching Experience
Some of the most rewarding experiences I've had in fitness have come from coaching others and watching them recognize their own progress.
Through my involvement with Special Olympics, I've learned the importance of adapting how I communicate and teach. One of my favorite parts of working with athletes is figuring out how to explain a skill in a way that makes sense to them, then watching them successfully put it into practice during competition.
I experienced a different kind of fulfillment during my two seasons coaching middle school cross country. Many athletes began the season with little or no experience in distance running. Over the following months, I enjoyed helping them develop their endurance, improve their abilities, and grow into more confident athletes.
What I enjoyed most was tracking their progress and sharing it with them. Seeing their reactions when they realized how much they'd improved was often just as rewarding as watching them compete.
My work as an independent respite provider has also reinforced the importance of patience, adaptability, and understanding individual needs.
Continuing to Challenge Myself
Coaching is an important part of my life, but I also continue to pursue my own athletic goals.
In August 2026, I completed my first triathlon, finishing 21st overall and 3rd in my age group. I've also competed in a Spartan Sprint obstacle-course race, finishing in the top third of participants.
In January 2026, I began training in martial arts, exploring judo, Brazilian jiu-jitsu, and traditional jujutsu. These experiences introduced me to new challenges and different approaches to developing physical skills.
Running and endurance training remain an important part of my athletic background, but I enjoy stepping outside familiar disciplines and exploring new ways to improve.
I believe there's value in continuing to learn, taking on unfamiliar challenges, and experiencing the process of improvement firsthand. I don't believe a trainer needs to be the best athlete in the room, but I do believe there's something to be said for practicing the commitment and consistency you encourage in others.
For those interested in learning more about my athletic background, I've also shared a more detailed account of my experiences in a separate article.

Although my degree is in finance rather than exercise science, graduating with academic honors reflects the value I place on education, discipline, and following through on long-term commitments.
Fitness is an ongoing process. There will always be something new to learn, another goal to pursue, or an opportunity to improve. Through Morris Training Co., I hope to help others embrace that process and discover what they're capable of achieving.
